Hojarana is a Panamanian start-up that protects forests by creating value from what forests naturally produce. We sustainably collect and process leaf litter from private forests, giving rural communities a real incentive to keep their forests intact.
Our leaf mix comes from the same tree species found in Panamanian dart-frog habitat. It supports humidity, shelters microfauna, and encourages natural behaviors and breeding. You can also boil it to make tannin-rich water for tadpoles.
The impact we aim to grow
Less burning, fewer forest fires
More biodiversity protected
New income for rural communities
Forests protected, standing and valuable

Dart Frog Mix
Our leaves are sustainably sourced from Panamanian private forests. These are the exact leaves found in the natural habitat of frogs. Produced by the same species of trees that your frogs encounter in their natural environment, our leaf litter will encourage natural behavior and breeding in terrariums. These leaves are also great for making tannin water for raising tadpoles, as they are the same leaves that produce tannins in the bromeliads in nature.
